In celebration of Read Across America Week, students at Holyoke Elementary dressed up as characters from their favorite books on Wednesday, came to school looking topsy-turvy on Thursday, and chilled out in their pajamas on Friday.

The National Education Association’s annual Read Across America celebration is a reading motivation and awareness program that calls for schools to celebrate reading during the birthday week of children's author Dr. Seuss. Motivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong successful readers. Research has shown that children who spend more time reading do better in school.
