Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Coming Up

Martin Luther King Jr. has his own day all too himself, but do you really know why? MLK day lands on the third Monday of every January which just happens to be his birthday this year on January 15. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for the rights of all people; he wanted everybody to get treated equally. “I Have a Dream” is his most famous speech where he talks about the racial injustice in America in hopes that people will listen to him and hold their country accountable. He does this because America promised freedom, justice, and equality and they weren’t actually performing them. Getting this day to be a holiday was a long 15 years, but it finally happened after former president Ronald Reagan signed the bill.
