Holyoke JH Students Win Entrepreneur Fair

On March 28, thirty-one junior high students in Mrs. Nelson’s Junior Achievement classes attended the Ogallala Commons Entrepreneurship Fair at the Phillips County Event Center.  These students competed for cash prizes of $1,000 against students from other area schools.

E-Fair ParticipantsE-Fair ParticipantsStudents created business plans for their companies, marketing plans and materials, financial projections, and products to sell.  They were interviewed by investors including First Pioneer Bank, Holyoke Community Federal Credit Union, the Daniels Fund, Phillips County Commissioners, Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, Points West Community Bank, Haxtun Community Federal Credit Union, Holyoke Community Federal Credit Union, Premier Farm Bank, First Pioneer National Bank, Bank of Colorado, and Designs By Fergie.

Holyoke Junior High students took a clean sweep of the junior high awards, receiving 1st-3rd places and $1,000!!

Award winners included:

              1st Place—MBC Candles – Macie Maloney, Cooper Hielscher, & Brandon Adler, $450

              2nd Place—Soulful Stickers – Sarah Schlachter, Maggie Kleve, & Kynlea Nelson, $400

             3rd Place—Dragon Fashion – Braylin Herman, Gizem Barraza, Molly Kropp & Lily Sprague, $150

Students are looking forward to selling their products to make additional money through the end of the school year.
