Dear Parents:

The number one goal of the Transportation department is the safety of our riders.  Mud routes were implemented to be used when county roads are slippery and severe road conditions warrant.  As we started reviewing our past mud route system and after visiting with some parents, staff, bus drivers, and the board of directors it was decided a change and update to the mud route system was needed.

The update is as follows:  Each bus route will now have 1 stop and have their regular route driver making it easier on all involved.  Families living within a 5 mile radius of Holyoke will now bring their students into school and or take them home at night.  Families living outside the 5 mile radius will meet at their predetermined bus stop for their route.  It is very important that you are to the bus stop before the established time the bus will arrive on its way to or from school.  If you should determine that it is unsafe for you to travel the roads to meet the bus, your child will have an excused absence and will be able to make up the work according to the student handbook.

By making these changes we feel it will better serve our families while making transporting our students more safe during inclement weather.  As we all know, weather can be peculiar.  Parts of our county can be affected while others are not.  With these changes it will allow us to pinpoint just where mud routes are needed and where normal routes may continue in any one given day.

When we determine that using the mud route system is necessary, you will get a phone call from the school’s parent notification system.  This is the same system the school uses for school closures.  On those mornings or afternoons, please meet the bus at your predetermined bus stop.  If the mud route is in effect for the morning, it will also be in effect for that afternoon.

Please look at the information enclosed with this letter.  You will find the location of each mud route stop for each individual route.

La meta número uno del departamento de transportación es la seguridad de nuestros pasajeros. Las rutas de lodo fueron implementadas para ser usadas cuando los caminos están resbalosos  y hay orden de severas condiciones de la carretera.  Como empezamos a revisar nuestro sistema de ruta de lodo del pasado y después de platicar con algunos padres, personal, chóferes de autobuses y la Junta Directiva fue decidido que era necesario cambiar y actualizar el sistema de rutas de lodo. 

La actualización es la siguiente: Cada ruta del autobús ahora tendrá 1 parada y tendrán su chofer de autobús regular para hacerlo más fácil para todos los involucrados. Las familias que vivan dentro de un radio de 5 millas de Holyoke ahora llevarán a sus estudiantes a la escuela y tendrán que recogerlos después de la escuela. Las familias que viven fuera del radio de 5 millas se reunirán en su parada de autobús predeterminada. Es muy importante que llegue a la parada de autobús antes del tiempo establecido que el autobús llegará en su camino a y de la escuela.  Si usted decide que no es seguro  de viajar por los caminos para reunirse con el autobús, su niño tendrá una ausencia justificada y podrán hacer su tarea de acuerdo al manual del estudiante.

Al hacer estos cambios sentimos que serviremos mejor a nuestras familias al transportar  a nuestros estudiantes seguros durante inclemencias del tiempo. Como todos sabemos, el clima puede ser raro. Partes de nuestro condado pueden ser afectadas cuando otras no lo están.  Con estos cambios tendremos la oportunidad de determinar con precisión sólo donde las rutas de lodo son necesarias y donde las rutas normales pueden continuar en cualquier día dado.

Cuando decidamos que es necesario usar el sistema de ruta de lodo, usted recibirá una llamada del sistema de notificación de padres de la escuela. Este es el mismo sistema que usa la escuela cuando hay cierre de escuela. En estas mañanas o tardes, por favor encontrarse en la parada de autobús predeterminada. Si la ruta de lodo es en efecto en la mañana, también estará en efecto en la tarde.

Por favor mire la información incluida adjunta con esta carta. Encontrará la ubicación de la parada de cada ruta de tormenta para cada ruta individual.
