Internship HighlightsAddie is interning with Ms. Hutches during 9th grade English class, learning about the ropes of being a teacher, as she potentially want to be a teacher.
What have you learned?"Ms. Hutches has me primarily helping during her Junior High Journalism class by mentoring the 7th and 8th grade students on their interview and writing skills. I accompany them to interview students and teachers, read rough drafts of the articles, and provide feedback on both. I also help out with her English Class where needed. Being part of both classes has taught me to accommodate the needs of two classes that could not be more different. All of this experience has helped me with me with my career connectedness."
What has been your focus?"Our class only consists of seven students. So when more than two are missing it is hard to do group collaboration or teamwork, as it makes the classroom environment smaller and more difficult. We have worked to adapt to this problem by giving a lot more time to get them done in order to accommodate a range of students. I learned that sometimes you need to just go with the flow. Things will not always go as planned. So it's best not to stress and deal with it in the best way possible.
