At the regular school board meeting on April 4, 2023 the Holyoke Re-1J School Board approved the 2023 - 2024 calendar for the upcoming school year. Here are some of the highlights.
- We will continue with a four day week with Friday being the scheduled day off.
- We will host a registration day and Chromebook check out on August 1, 2023.
- School begins at the JR/SR High School on August 15, 2023 and the Elementary on August 16, 2023. This is after five days of teacher inservice that start on August 7, 2023. New hires to the district will begin on August 3, 2023.
- Aside from the inservice days before school starts, there will be five other inservice days for teachers put on by the school and three by BOCES plus two days with parent/teacher conferences accounting for 163 days for staff.
- Students will be in school 149 days. In addition to Fridays off families can look forward to time together on Labor Day (September 4, 2023), Thanksgiving (November 22 - 24, 2023), Winter Break (December 22 - January 3, 2024), Spring Break (March 11 - 15, 2024), and Easter Break (March 29 - 31).
- The Elementary School trimesters will end on November 9, 2023, February 22, 2024, and May 23, 2024.
- The JR/SR High School semesters will end on December 21, 2023 and May 23, 2024.
- Graduation will be on a Saturday. The day chosen was May 11, 2024.
- There are two half days on the calendar. December 21, 2023 and May, 2024 (the last day of the school year).
