JE JH Classes

Students in Mrs. Nelson’s Junior Entrepreneurship classes have spent the last several weeks preparing for a mock interview.  Students did a unit on career exploration and also learned about federal and state employment laws, developing job criteria, finding jobs, and Equal Opportunity Employment laws.  They then learned about applications, resumes, and cover letters and created their own to prepare for an interview with local business owners and managers.

Students then applied for jobs as caddies, nurse’s aides, dishwashers, store clerks, bank tellers, and waiters/waitresses.  Last week, the students did mock interviews with Lance Talich, First Pioneer Bank; Jill Fiedler, Holyoke Marketplace; Justin Farrell, Mike Bastin, and ChristiAnne Gibson, Ballyneal; and Bonnie Pastino, Melissa Memorial Hospital.

The top students for each job vied to ā€œget the jobā€ by going through a second round that was set up as a panel interview with all six interviewers.  Students placing top in their group and therefore qualifying for the final round included Kristalee Dominguez, Kaitylynn Kafka, Mason Gertner, Andrea Alonzo, Mackenzie Talich, and Meredith Schlachter.  The final winner, receiving a $50 Amazon gift card, was Mackenzie.  Runner-up, receiving a $25 gift card, was Kaitylynn.  Mrs. Nelson was extremely proud of her classes being able to do what they did and do it well!
Interview FinalistsAdditional students going through the interview process included Creedance Cano, Jose Duran, Sophia Estrada, Bode Fust, Bennet Beard, Jenna Hoffner, Jade Huffman, Camila Montes, Orlin Padilla, Metzli Rojas, Jonathan Valenzuela, Ava Vasa, Lucy Vasquez, Raylee Young, Yaretzi Flores, Andres Goytia, Link Leudke, Jayden Goytia, Erick Perez, Camila Reyes, Rhettly Schneller, and Brian Vazquez.
