November Students of the Month

The Holyoke JR/SR High School named The November Students of the Month, sponsored by the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce, were recently chosen by the Holyoke JR/SR High School Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Team. Nominations come from staff and students who see a student who is going above and beyond to demonstrate RISE on a regular basis.

Junior High, Janny (Samanta) Espinal Pena

Samanta was nominated by a fellow student: Samanta works extremely hard in all of her classes. She always makes sure that her homework is completed and that it's 100% correct. She is kind and quiet in class and never causes any disruptive behavior. She focuses in class to get her work done and if someone asks for help she would help them. For example, many of Samanta’s friends go to her for help when they don’t understand how to do something in class.. Samanta takes time to explain to them how to do it step by step. In her free time in class, Samanta works on other class assignments instead of messing around. She always finishes her work before the due date and never waits until the last minute to finish things. As her friend and classmate, I have seen how hard she works for all her classes and how responsible she is for her age. I am very proud of her in every way and she deserves to be Student of the Month.

High School, Luke Sprague

Luke was nominated by a fellow student and Mrs. Maloney: I nominate Luke Sprague for Student of the Month because not only is he a reliable classmate who gets his work done, he also shows kindness towards others and never always has a positive attitude. I feel Luke Sprague is the perfect student for this award.

Luke has taken on a new course this year, American Sign Language,  and has excelled in it. He works both independently and helps others when they need assistance. This is an independent class and he is always on task, keeps ahead of his work, and maintains an excellent grade at all times. Luke should be proud of himself for his dedication and determination in his course work!
