Junior Achievement Students

Students in Mrs. Nelson’s Junior Achievement class recently got the chance to apply for jobs at local businesses.  A representative from five local companies interviewed 20 junior high students on November 9.

Before the interviews, each student learned the appropriate way to fill out a job application, resume and cover letter.  After learning what to say, and what not to say, in a job interview, they then dressed their best and took turns interviewing for a mock job with Elliott Oscar and Andrea Herschfeldt of Ballyneal, Jill Fiedler of the Holyoke Marketplace, Justin Clevenger of First Pioneer Bank, Trisha Herman of the Fitness Center, and Arlan Scholl of Scholl Oil.  \r\n

Students making it to the final round of interviews by a panel of these judges included Sujey Bustillos, Cesar Favela, Dayami Trejo, Kinley Sporhase, Vanessa Marroquin, and Aubrey Bieber.  The final winner of the “job” was Aubrey Bieber, who received $50 for her efforts.\r\n

Congratulations to all of these students for going through this as a 7th or 8th grader!  It was a stressful task to go through but in the long run, the class was happy for the learning experience.  Thank you to all interviewers for taking time out of your busy days and for presenting tips for improvement.\r\n
