Internship HighlightsKyrah is an intern for 2 hours a day at Country cupboards.
What have you learned?"Things I have learned so far this year: pricing items, using the app, it was a long process because she had to find to find the item she bought the amount of what was in the whole entire product and how much she used of the product. This would then show how much it costs to use that ingredient. She had me watch her and write down in a notebook all of the exact products, amounts, and costs of each ingredient. When she was finished adding adding all the ingredients it would add up the coast to make the product and what she should charge to make good enough profit. This was one of my favorite days because I learned a lot. Protocols she is starting to put in place so that the health inspector will approve, she explained to me there is a huge book of rules she has to go through and make sure she is following."
What are your goals for your internship?"One of the goals I had for my internship was to learn about how people run a small business. I feel like I reached that goal. I believe that all the skills I'm learning now will benefit me in the future. I want to be a baker in a small town and the way she runs it is exactly how I want my business to run if I decide to run my own to be."
