Student of the Month

Junior High, Jiajia (Candy) Liu, nominated by her science teacher:

Candy Liu is an 8th grade student at Holyoke Junior High. Candy's work ethic and kindness is outstanding. She comes to school ready to accomplish her goals and stay focused. Not only does she complete the tasks set out for her in class, she also pushes herself to learn concepts beyond the curriculum. Candy works hard to push back against bullying with her strong and quiet spirit. Her exemplary character in school is also reflected in her work within her family’s successful business. I am honored to nominate Candy as January’s Student of the Month

High School, Grace Roberts, nominated by Mrs. Kleve:

Grace is diligent about getting her work done on time (sometimes ahead of time), even if she is missing class for a school related event. She demonstrates what it is to be a great student with hard work and does not have a problem asking for help when needed. She is also a leader on her sports teams and in the classroom. She has taken several underclassmen under her wing and is helping them navigate the social structure of high school. Grace has a good compass for right and wrong and helps other students adhere to school rules and being kind to others. I have personally heard her talk to an underclassman about not degrading other students. She is a leader among students in our school. I cannot wait to see the great things she does after she graduates.
