There is a crisp feeling in the evening air and the days are growing shorter as September draws to a close. With the end of September comes a chance to celebrate the first month-plus of school and look ahead to what October will bring.

The District's Website received submissions from teachers and staff for over 30 celebrations during this first part of the school year. The following four minute video attempts to highlight many of the amazing things that have happened so far.

The School District started the year honoring staff members for their years of service to the district. (Staff members are awarded crystal apples for every five years of service they have in the district.) The teachers then painted the dragon prints on the streets and began their preparations for the school year.

As soon as the students arrived they were warmly greeted and set to the business of learning.

New this year is free breakfast and lunch for all students in the State of Colorado. There have been many participants. For more information about the program please see this release.

At the Elementary School the focus has been on being good LEARNERS. These behaviors along with the Dragon Mindset Pledge (repeated every morning after the Pledge of Allegiance) help students focus on why they are in school.

Over at the Junior/Senior High School, students have demonstrated graduate competency by participating in activities such as a field trip to Highline for career connectedness; juniors went to #Fightthefunk at NJC to work on social and emotional competence; math student working on graphing inequalities to demonstrate perseverance; or student in the Healthy Living class learing about professional dress.

So many amazing things have happened in the first seven weeks of school. What's next?
