JA Class

Finalists

Students in Mrs. Nelson’s Junior Achievement class recently got the chance to apply for jobs at local businesses.  Eight business owners, managers and HR representatives took time out to do mock interviews with junior high students.

Before the interviews, each student learned the appropriate way to fill out a job application, resume and cover letter.  After learning what to say, and what not to say, in a job interview, they then dressed their best and took turns interviewing for a mock job.  Interviewers included four employees from Ballyneal, the Holyoke Marketplace, Printers, Paper and More, Clayton Farms, and Melissa Memorial Hospital.

Students making it to the final round of interviews by a panel of these judges included Lia Sprague, Juan Nunez, Brandon Adler, Kynlea Nelson, Macey Maloney, Sarah Schlachter, Ryker Ring, and Maggie Kleve.  The final winner of the “job” was Macie Maloney, who received $50 for her efforts.  Runner-up with $25 was Maggie Kleve.

Congratulations to all of these students for going through this as a 7th or 8th grader!  It was a stressful task to go through but in the long run, the class was happy for the learning experience.  Thank you to all interviewers for taking time out of your busy days and for presenting tips for improvement.
