Internship HighlightsAnna wants to be a teacher so she is working with Mrs. Bieber as her mentor.
What have you learned?"This Internship has already provided me with a better understanding of my career goals, which are to be an English professor. I love working with English and literature, and it's definitely something I want to do for a living. Doing this internship has shown me how much extra prep work goes into teaching classes, but I definitely think the prep work is worth it. This internship has helped me learn to be more confident while reading in front of an 'audience,' and made me appreciate my teachers more. Sor far, I''m really enjoying my internship and I believe I will continue to do do so."
Career Exploration"Mrs. Bieber has me grading the Article of the Week assignments from the Seventh Graders every week, which has helped my think of different ways to grade and ideas of assignments I might give out when I am a teacher.
I want to improve my public speaking skills. Mrs. Bieber is having me read and record the book, The Giver, for her Seventh Graders to listen to. At first this made me very nervous because I don't love the sound of my voice playing back through a microphone, but as time went on and it got more routine, I'm getting more used to hearing my own voice and knowing that the whole Seventh Grade class will be hearing it too. I think my speaking skills have improved, but they definitely need a little more practice."
